Fundraising for Malta Marathon 2014

posted 12 Feb 2014, 09:39 by Mario A. Attard

ASL Liam and VSL Mario, will this year be taking part in Malta Half Marathon on Sunday 23rd February. This 21k run, will start from Mdina and finish at the Sliema Ferries. As part of the run we have joined the MS Team, and will be helping with fundraising for the Multiple Sclerosis Society Malta. The society is rather small as far as charities go, but for the families whom it supports, it makes the world of a difference by heavily subsidising different forms of therapy, be it physiotherapy home visits or psychotherapy/counselling sessions. MS is not particularly widespread locally, and is very often invisible to the general public.

You may support this cause by;

  1. Either setting a fixed amount for every kilometre we run (example €0.50/km)
  2. or by making a donation of the amount you desire
Donations can be made via;
  1. Bank transfer HSBC Savings Account - The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Malta – 16196495050
  2. or giving your donation to either Liam or myself to pass on

Keswick Adventure

posted 2 Aug 2013, 15:49 by Daniel Cuschieri   [ updated 2 Aug 2013, 15:50 ]

After many months of planning and preparations, we are now just one week away from Keswick Adventure which will see a group of 32 scouts, ventures and leaders spending 10 days in the Lake District and Manchester.

The highlight of this trip will be an activity-packed, 4 day joint camp whose planning and running is being headed by with the 1st Keswick Scout Group.  Kayaking, canoeing, shooting, pioneering, water tunnels, climbing wall, archery, campfires, hikes, swimming, a hog roast dinner, backwoods cooking, crafts, raft building, football and a Maltese night are all set to feature in this memorable camp.  Scouts from the Shap and 2nd Penrith Scout Group will also be attending.

Following the camp, the Group will then be spending a few days at the Keswick Scout Group's headquarters, from where the scouts will be going caving, ghyll scrambling, visiting various museums, hiking, geocaching and ferry hopping.  The ventures, on the other hand, will be doing their qualifying President's Award expedition.

The contingent will then move to Manchester, where it will be accommodated in a scout centre. The group will be going to Alton Towers, visiting Chester Zoo, Old Trafford and various museums.

Despite the unimaginable amount of planning that such a trip involves, these preparations are in their final stages and according to schedule, and we are confident that this activity will be one which will be remembered for years to come!
