Troop Technology Month

Today during the usual Friday Troop meetin g we started the new theme of the month which is Technology in Scouting. The final challenge for the end of this month would be for each patrol to build a functional go kart, which will be tested on a downhill course! Today’s meeting started off with of a friendly patrol game of blindfolded Lions and Tigers, the highlight being when two scouts literally climbed over each other in an attempt to find the ball! But don’t worry - all is ok with both of them! Later the Troop was split up into two, where one group got some ideas and tips on go kart building and then started drawing up their first sketches. In the meantime, the other half of the Troop got to know all about the different equipment used when going abseiling, rock climbing and fly fox, the different types of equipment and ropes, how to use them, and the safety precautions to be taken. This was also a preparation for the fly fox that the Group will be setting up during next month's SMC Fun Day.
