Day 1 – Saturday 19/09/2009

On the first day of this HQ Maintenance Camp the PLs and APLs met at the Scout HQ at 9:00am sharp. We where about 8 scouts not including the Ventures, Rovers, etc.. The first thung we had to do was to sand down all the tables and benches, so that we could paint them. The work was divided with the PLs doing the tables and APLs doing the benches.

It was about 12:00pm when we finished all the sanding, we had to fill in any gaps or holes with filler and wood glue. But that only took an hour and so at 1:00pm we could eat. After we ate we had an hour of free time as we had to leave the filler to dry. When the filler dried we sanded down everything with fine sandpaper and after wiped off all the dust with a damp cloth.

Now we could give the first coat of green paint on everything. It was now about 4:00pm and had to let it set for an hour so that we could paint the benches legs in black. That was all for today so we hurried into the music room with our computers to connect them together so that we could play COD 2.

Day 2 – Sunday 20/09/2009

We had to go to mass so Skipper came to wake us up at 7:00am. After Mass we got our cutlery for breakfast. At 9:30am everyone had eaten and so we started painting the second coat of green on the tables and benches, now we had to let it set and dry. It’s 11:30, now we could paint the patrol strips on our table and benches. The Colours where:

• Hawk – Pink, Pink
• Bulldog – Blue, Brown
• Stag – Purple, Black
• Kestrel – Light Green, Light Blue

All that took us some time as first we had to place the masking tape so that the paint will not smudge. Then we painted with the colours we mixed, then we had to let it dry for about 3 hours, during that time we ate and after kitchen duties, some of us went to watch the Man United match while the rest stayed at the HQ playing COD 2, like me. When the paint dried we removed the masking tape, it didn’t come perfect so with a fine brush we went over any defects. We couldn’t leave the benches outside to dry because it could rain. When that was done at about 9:00pm we ate a big bowl of pasta and after kitchen duty, then we started playing COD 2.

Day 3 – Monday 21/09/2009

Rise and Shine was at about 8:30 as Skipper left us a sleep a little more than usual. At 9:30 we had finished our breakfast and could clean our mestins. We didn’t have much to do that day other than clearing and cleaning up the campsite. We had to pack up our stuff and the Scout Group stuff to be placed in the store. At 11:30 all that was done so we could eat and after that it wall all free time till 4:00pm when we went home.
