On the 4th of October the Stella Maris College Scout Group Crew set out for a new activity, Wind Surfing. Neither one of us had ever tried this sport before, nonetheless we were all eager to take it on.

Excitement began to increase on the way to the beach, not knowing what to expect or at least where to begin. Thanks to a friend of the group the Crew knew how to rig the sail and the boom, but that was the extent of our knowledge. Our first few attempts where disastrous, having spent more time in water then on the board. We decided to take a short break and make use of our canoes, taking trips along the bay.

Our second attempt was much more successful, crew members were starting to get hold of it managing to surf short distances before falling “gracefully”. The activity was brilliant, the fact that we experienced something new, is quite rewarding. This is an activity which the SMC Scout Group Crew will not give up on and will surely take on in the future.
